Ship vehicles from China to Qatar with GCC 5% duty, GSO conformity certification, and full MOI registration support.
Qatar applies the GCC Common Customs Tariff at a flat 5% duty rate with no VAT — one of the lowest tax burdens globally. Used imports must be within a 5-year age limit, and all vehicles require a GSO/GCC Conformity Certificate authenticated through the Mutabiq system. Since the landmark Circular 1/2025, individuals can now import vehicles directly. Customs clearance runs through the Al-Nadeeb single-window platform, followed by Fahes technical inspection and MOI Traffic Department registration. Whether you are a Doha-based dealer, an individual importer, or a fleet operator, Cargration handles sourcing, GSO certification, documentation, and shipping so your vehicles clear Qatar Customs and register with MOI without delays.

Low-Tariff Advantage
Qatar offers the lowest tax burden in the GCC — just 5% customs duty with no VAT. Total effective tax is approximately 5% of CIF, compared to 10.25% in Oman/UAE and 20.75% in Saudi Arabia. We provide precise landed cost estimates so you can take full advantage of Qatar's favourable import regime.
GSO/Mutabiq Expertise
Every vehicle imported to Qatar must have a GSO/GCC Conformity Certificate authenticated through the Mutabiq system. We manage the entire certification process — from engaging GSO-notified bodies in China to uploading VIN numbers and activating certificates in the Mutabiq portal before your vehicle departs.
Age-Compliant Sourcing
Qatar's strict 5-year age limit for used imports leaves no margin for error — a 2021 model year vehicle arriving in 2026 is at the limit. We verify the manufacture year of every vehicle before sourcing to ensure age compliance. Vehicles exceeding the limit cannot be registered, and there is no penalty pathway.
Hamad Port Network
We work with licensed customs brokers at Hamad Port who know Al-Nadeeb procedures, document attestation requirements, Fahes inspection scheduling, and MOI Traffic Department registration. Since Circular 1/2025, individual importers enjoy the same rights as dealers, and our network supports both direct and commercial imports.
Perguntas frequentes — CATAR
Catar: perguntas comuns sobre exportação
Qatar has one of the lowest tax burdens on vehicle imports in the world. The total is approximately 5% of CIF value — consisting solely of the GCC Common Customs Tariff at a flat 5%. Qatar does not levy VAT, excise duty, or any other vehicle-specific taxes. For comparison, the same vehicle imported to Saudi Arabia would cost approximately $4,150 in duty and VAT — over four times more.
Yes, since the landmark Circular 1/2025 issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in January 2025, individuals are now permitted to import vehicles directly from abroad for personal use. Local dealers must honour manufacturer warranties and provide spare parts for directly imported vehicles that meet GCC specifications.
Qatar enforces a strict 5-year maximum age limit for used passenger vehicle imports, calculated from the year of manufacture — not the date of first registration. For vehicles arriving in 2026, the car must be a 2021 model year or newer. Additionally, vehicles over 15 years old from the year of manufacture cannot be registered with MOI at all.
The GSO/GCC Conformity Certificate certifies that a vehicle meets Gulf Standardization Organization technical regulations. In Qatar specifically, the certificate must be authenticated through the Mutabiq system (gso.org.sa/cc), which is the GCC-wide online platform for conformity certificate verification.
Qatar's extreme climate requires: a larger radiator and heavy-duty cooling fans, robust air conditioning compressor, dust-resistant air filters, high-temperature-rated battery, transmission cooler for automatic vehicles, and underbody corrosion protection.
Al-Nadeeb is Qatar's single-window customs clearance platform operated by the General Authority of Customs. All import declarations must be submitted electronically. The process: register as importer, submit declaration with attachments, risk assessment, valuation, online payment of 5% duty + QAR 150 Bayan fee, and release order.
Fahes is the mandatory vehicle technical inspection programme operated by WOQOD. It must be completed within 14 days of arrival. It covers brakes, suspension, lighting, exhaust emissions, structural integrity, VIN verification, tyre condition, air conditioning performance, and cooling system inspection. Fee: ~QAR 300–450.
BYD is the leading Chinese brand, particularly the Seal and Yuan Plus (Atto 3). Zeekr is gaining traction with the 001 shooting brake. Chery's Tiggo 8 Pro is popular among families. GAC Motor's GS8 competes in the premium SUV segment.
While Qatar does not offer customs duty exemption on EVs, it provides registration fee waivers, 300+ fast chargers (targeting 1,000 by 2030), building code mandates for EV-ready parking, and green financing. 73% of Doha's public bus fleet is already electric.
Day 1–3 vehicle selection; Day 4–10 procurement; Day 11–18 documentation (GSO certification, MoCI permit); Day 19 container loading; Day 20–40 sea transit (16–25 days); Day 41–47 customs clearance via Al-Nadeeb; Day 48 Fahes and insurance; Day 49–52 MOI registration. Total: approximately 7–8 weeks.
While individuals can theoretically handle clearance through Al-Nadeeb themselves, a licensed customs broker is strongly recommended and mandatory for commercial imports. Fee: QAR 700–1,300 ($200–$350) per vehicle.
Third-party liability (TPL) insurance is mandatory for all vehicles on Qatari roads. Policy must be from a Qatari-registered insurer, valid for minimum one year. Average TPL costs: QAR 350–1,200 per year. Comprehensive insurance is recommended at approximately 2–7% of vehicle value per year.
